Frequently asked questions
How much do you charge, and what’s your pricing structure?
I believe in transparent pricing with no hidden fees:
No call-out charge I don’t charge just for coming to look at your problem
£85 per hour for diagnostic work, repairs, and smaller jobs. For central London call outs, this rises to £115 per hour to cover extra travel to and from the centre.
Fixed quotes for larger installations where I can accurately estimate time and materials (rewires, consumer unit upgrades, EV chargers, etc.)
Free quotes for most jobs - I’ll visit your property, assess what’s needed, and provide a detailed written quote at no charge
For larger projects like rewiring or substantial installations, I require a deposit to secure materials and book your job in. Progress is then invoiced at agreed milestones rather than asking for all the money upfront or at the end.
I accept bank transfer, cash, and card payments for your convenience.
What can I do to keep costs down?
There are several ways to make your electrical work more cost-effective when charging by an hourly rate:
Clear the work area - If I don’t have to move furniture, clear cupboards, or work around obstacles, I can work faster and more efficiently.
Provide clear access to your consumer unit - Essential for all fault-finding and testing work.
Make all sockets and switches accessible - Particularly important for EICR inspections where I need to test every point.
Have previous certificates ready - If you have electrical certificates from previous work, these can speed up inspections and potentially reduce testing time.
Sort out parking - This is always challenging in London. If you can provide a parking space or arrange a resident parking permit for the duration of works, this saves time and money. Otherwise, parking costs may need to be factored into the quote.
Provide access to appliances for switching off - During testing, appliances need to be turned off. Having everything accessible saves time.
Being organized and prepared can genuinely reduce the time needed on site, which directly reduces your costs.
